Vinted Members Express Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all users about the change.
Online Platforms Reaction
Many shoppers and sellers are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Modifications
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the measurements have been reclassified - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
A different member, based in Glasgow, said garments she listed on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"This situation is especially annoying, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: last year, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
